Healthy Alternative To Deep-Fried Foods

My husband is always careful how much oil we use to cook our meals and that’s great, because, as you probably all know, a healthy choice is very important to me. Sometimes when I was making some Polish food for us or homemade French fries, I was missing the proper taste, because of the lack of full amount of oil that was needed in each meal. Luckily, we have found the solution (actually my hubby did) and we got the 8-in-1 Air Fryer XL 5.8 Qt from GoWise and it’s one of our most used and most favorite appliance in our kitchen.

How does an air fryer work?

It works by circulating hot air (rapid air circulation technology) and it cooks the food from all angles, ensuring fast and even cooking. The hot air contains fine oil droplets around the food to make a crispy and crunchy exterior. No oil is needed while cooking, that’s why it makes it a much healthier (less fat and calories) alternative to deep-fried foods.

What’s great about the air fryer we chose is that it has “touch screen accessibility to manually program cooking time, or select from 1 of 8 built-in smart programs: Fries/Chips, Pork, Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Cake, Fish, and Pizza”. Having said that, this one appliance can easily replace the oven since I can bake in it and make pizza as well. I’m fully equipped! 🙂

GoWise has so many nice and great air fryers that at first, we couldn’t decide which one to get. Since I really like the color white, my love decided for us, that we’ll have a white one – that made me super happy :D. Beside the color, everything else was perfect so it wasn’t a problem to get a white one anyway :).

Also, what is really awesome is that you can download recipes for free from their website, but if you order one, it comes with the recipe book.

Right now, I’m off to use our GoWise Air Fryer XL to prepare some chicken for my hubby’s lunch :). It takes only 20 minutes to fry it (so quickly! :D) so to be honest, I’m very excited to use this machine again (and again and again) :).

  1. Thank you for sharing… as I am watching what I eat and trying to stay healthy, will definitely check into the fryer… at the moment mainly using small convection oven and micro..

  2. I have heard so many things about air fryers. I wish I could afford to get one. It’s definitely on my list of must have kitchen gadgets.

    1. I hope you’ll get one soon, because it really saves lots of time and is super useful 👍☺🌼

  3. As a southerner who greatly values health, I have sorrowfully shunned almost all my cultural staples. Now I have hope that I may be able to make some of them again! Thank you for sharing this — was really cool to hear about 🙂

  4. We got an air-fryer for Christmas, but still haven’t managed to use it! I think because our apartment kitchen is too small to really cook proper meals, but I’m excited to create yummy dishes when we have more working space (:

    1. That’s awesome! You have to start using it! You’ll see how great it is! 😃🌼

  5. I saw these but hesitated to buy, not wanting to compromise taste. (fat does taste good) But, I will admit that plate looks absolutely sinful and yummy!

    1. Yes, I agree, but once I tried fries or chicken in the air fryer, it tasted as good as you would cook on a pan in oil ☺👍. Thank you! ☺🌺

  6. Oh yum! Gotta get me one of those! I love French Fries too, but not the cholesterol from the oil. Right? But, I’ve heard coconut oil is okay though.

  7. I have been wondering about an air fryer. We used to always fry our food. Besides not being the best choice, what a mess! I will look into this. Thank you!

  8. Fantastic! I have hesitated on buying one wondering if the food would taste fried. I miss fried chicken and a few other things that I won’t make because of breading and oil! This seems like a great alternative. Thank you for reviewing your machine 🙂

  9. The heart-shaped fry is just too adorable.
I tried making my own fries in the air fryer, but the texture was so weird, and not much color. However, the frozen fries turned out perfectly. I’m not sure why.

    1. Maybe try with different potatoes? Also, you can mix with the fries 1 tablespoon of oil before you put them into the air fryer, maybe that will help ☺🌹

      1. I did try and mix a bit of oil in, but maybe not enough. And thanks for the different type of potato suggestion. I think that might actually be a solution.

  10. I had not seen or heard of an air fryer until your post. I will check them out, your food looks delicious.
