How To Take Better Care Of Your Eyes

Our eyes need our full attention to stay healthy and when we don’t, we will notice fatigue, poor vision, headaches and more. Through this article I try to encourage you to put your eyesight first and take care of your eyes more than ever.

Tip #1: Regular Medical Exams

Some of us have never been to an optometrist in our lives. However, this medical examination is essential to prevent certain diseases and certain sight disorders. Vision changes and visual fatigue combined with aging has a considerable impact on your vision. However, having a correction that is not adapted to your sight can have undesirable consequences in the long term. It is important to visit an optometrist at least once a year.

Beyond a simple check of your vision, a regular visit to your ophthalmologist also allows you to carry out a health check-up. For your very eyes, a regular examination can help detect many conditions such as glaucoma that are difficult to identify without examination of the eye.

Tip #2: Hydrate Your Eyes Well

Just like the rest of our body, our eyes need to stay hydrated. To maintain a good balance, we can use artificial tears. Make an effort to blink often and thoroughly to help retain hydration in your contact lenses, especially if you stare at a screen all day. Drink water regularly to stay as hydrated as possible. You can also hydrate your eyes by applying eye drops which are completely harmless and will refresh your eyes a little.

Tip #3. Watch Out For Computers!

In the digital age, the use of screens forces us to make a big difference in our eyes every day for hours. Computer, smartphone or tablet screens can impact your eyes. Prolonged use of digital screens can cause an unintentional reduction in the rate of blinking of your eyes, which can lead to dry eyes, irritation or redness. Many people also say that screens can make them tired, dizzy, give them blurred vision and more. Therefore regular breaks (hourly is good), will help your eyes reset a little. Do not look at your screen and instead fix your gaze on objects at different distances from far and near.

Tip #4: Respect For Hygiene Rules And The Recommended Daily Wearing Time

Don’t rub your eyes! And if you do touch your eyes, touch them with clean hands! If you are using contact lenses, then renew the maintenance solution in the case every day, pay attention to the expiry dates, close the bottle of solution well after use and change the case regularly. In general, trick your lenses into the maintenance liquid for a maximum of 12 hours a day. In case of discomfort or discomfort: remove your lenses and put on your glasses.

Tip #5: Provide Your Eyes With The Right Nutrition

Lutein and zeaxanthin, pigments belonging to the carotenoid family, have great antioxidant and anti-free radical power. They are found in green leafy vegetables (cabbage, spinach, broccoli, corn and egg yolk).
