3 Reasons Prescription Sunglasses Are A Must

I’m sure you remember this post where I shared my story of my first glasses. I have to tell you that I got so comfortable with wearing glasses that I look forward every day to match a pair with my outfit. I only had a problem during this summer, because sometimes when I was leaving the house, I had sunglasses on, but I kept on forgetting about my eyeglasses. Sometimes thanks to my hubby, I was taking both, but it was a little annoying to be switching from one pair to the other. I had to do something about it and again, Zeelool came to aid.

Zeelool is a place where you can find very affordable and fashionable prescription glasses and sunglasses, that’s why it was the first place I thought of when I wanted to get prescription sunglasses. Also, my husband convinced me how important it is to have sunglasses for all seasons, especially in summer when UV is very high, but also in winter, spring and fall.

I’ve looked more into this and here are 3 reasons that prescription sunglasses are a must:

1. Reduce the chance of getting cataracts

Cataract is a disease which leads to decrease in a vision. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, because you love outdoors or you just work outside, you’re at a heightened risk for developing cataracts. The symptoms of early cataract, like blurred vision or seeing “halos” around lights, may be improved or completely avoided by simply wearing prescription sunglasses.

2. Block the blue light (high-energy visible (HEV) light)

I’ve noticed lately that more and more people talk about blue light and there are even companies that produce eye creams and serums, which treat the eye contour. Instead of investing in expensive creams, I would go deeper to a problem and invest in a good pair of sunglasses and eyeglasses. All of mine have the blue light protection and I couldn’t be happier, same with my husband.

High-energy visible light is the light that we see when we view our devices (cell phones, TV, etc.), however, blue light is also in the normal spectrum of visible light (and sunlight is the main source of it). If it weren’t, then we wouldn’t see the sky as blue.

Too much exposure to blue light can have a negative impact to your eye health and can damage light-sensitive cells in the retina. This causes changes that resemble those of macular degeneration and other health issues, which can lead to permanent vision loss.

Wearing prescription sunglasses blocks HEV light. Also, I always wear my blue light blocking eyeglasses whenever I watch TV, even though I don’t need to, because my vision is not as bad, but just for the protection from this light.

3. Reduce the signs of aging

When you squint to see in a bright light, you bunch exceptionally sensitive skin around the eyes. This may cause you to prematurely develop fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. That’s why when you wear prescription sunglasses to protect eye health, you’re also helping maintain a more youthful appearance.

The reasons above are enough for me to make sure neither I nor my husband will never forget to take sunglasses whenever we leave the house. I hope this will convince you, as well, to protect your eyes.
