The food is amazing

I don’t know about you, but before I book a vacation, I always want to know that the food is going to be good. Luckily, if you are booking a break in Greece, you won’t have any problems in that department. In fact, Greek food is known to be both simple and delicious, as well as cooked with high-quality ingredients that are locally sourced.

The huge amount of sunlight Greece gets means that their fruits and vegetables tend to be large and very flavourful. Combine this with the delicious, high-quality olive oil and excellent use of herbs like oregano, and you are bound to come out with some tasty dishes.

Ones you definitely should not miss include traditional Greek salad, taramasalata, and the delicious dish kleftiko that is made from baked lamb, cheese, and potato. The seafood, especially on the islands and by the coast is fresh and excellent too and combine this with the local beers such as Mythos, and the culinary side of your trip will be well taken care of.

You can see the island by sea

Another advantage of visiting Greece of your vacation is that you can do something that is a little outside of the box. That is you can hire a boat and hop from one island to another.

To do this, you just need to find a decent yacht charter Greece based company and plan your route. Then not only do yet get to see Greece from some of the most beautiful bays, but you also get the novelty of having your accommodation on a yacht instead of a hotel.

They have the best beaches

Another advantage that you should consider is the fabulous beaches that you can have access to all over Greece. It worth taking some time to research the beaches in the areas that you will be travelling to as well.

The reason being that there may be ones close to your hotel that all the tourists use, but the best ones are often a short bus or car ride away. They are well worth travelling to though, as they are usually, quieter and full of locals, and have prettier scenery. Read more about this here.

History and culture abound

Last, of all do not forget that Greece is a place steeped in ancient history. That means it’s the perfect pick for folks that want to combine relaxing with soaking up some culture. Unmissable places include the Parthenon and Acropolis in Athens on the mainland and also The Temple of Aphaia in Aegina and The Asklepion in Kos.

  1. Very well written article about Greece and the beautiful food, beaches and the ancient history that is available to see and enjoy. I recall studying this in school way back in time. Thank you for bringing this forward to us all here in the cold and snow.

  2. Sounds perfect! It’s sad how people, myself included, think of London and France first when they want to travel to some faraway place. We forget about all the other cool places in the world there is to see, like Greece and Ireland and Rome.

  3. I will be going to live in Europe in a few months. Greece is now at the top of my bucket list after going through this. Have you some more pics? The historical centers, in particular.

  4. Hi Ula,

Laura and I have our 20th anniversary next year. I told her we should start saving and praying for a trip to Greece. Thank you for the tips.

  8. Hey 🙂 I loved this post. I actually stumbled upon it from when you liked an article I had written on Alex Fierro. Your writing is simple and uncluttered with expressions people like to use to haphazardly impress people. I daresay this comment is guilty of that very same crime 😛
