Why Perfume Is My Essential Accessory

We have five basic senses, but smell is the most powerful one. It evokes very powerful memories of the events and people you love. It’s a great tool to have. As far as I am concerned, perfume gives you the opportunity to say: this is my identity, who I am or  who I want to be. This is what I want people to remember me by.

You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Perfume

I might not wear make up on and my hair is not done, but I do put my fragrance on. It’s one of the few things I do every single day. It’s the smell I want to identify with.

I love when my friends and family know exactly that it’s me coming to the room, even though they don’t see me yet. They always say: “I knew it’s you, I can smell you from a far”. No, don’t think that I use strong and a lot of perfume. Not at all. I guess they are strong enough for the people that know who or what to expect.

Connection Between Fragrances And Memory

You might forget the touch of somebody’s hand, but you’ll never forget the smell.

Scents connect us with warm and positive memories. The smell of your mom’s cake or cologne on your significant other’s sweater or even the smell of upcoming holidays. They all put a smile on your face.

That being said, I always like to have a new perfume in my new stage of life. The smell always brings me back to those happy moments. I, also, always look forward to finding new fragrances that will make new memories.

That’s why buying and finding perfume online is so much easier for me. Even though I sometimes don’t know how the specific perfume smells like, I like taking a chance and buying it.   2. You just might be correct about the perfume, but I do do know you’re correct about smells; and identifying with the past or even love ones here and gone. Sometimes, we can miss someone so bad that our minds may even play tricks on us, because our sense of need can be so overwhelming that we believe even when it ain’t so. I love the way you put this together.

  5. I love perfume too, although most of he time, my “perfume” is chlorine, since I am a swimmer, a swim coach and a water aerobics instructor (as well as a chef from “A Jeanne in the Kitchen”)

  7. I never thought that I’d own as many perfumes as I do, but I realized as I got older that each one is for a certain mood! I have darks and lights, heavy scents or floral ones- it’s fun to pick out something different each day (:

  11. Absolutely! I’m hyperosmic and own about 20 different fragrances. Sometimes I like to wear 2 that go well together. I France, we have a saying to “not smell someone” – meaning to not get a sense of a person. It became so true to me as I was feeling emotional to someone and when getting closer and not smelling any perfume or smell – the emotion just went away. Do you also change perfume or prefer your own signature?

    1. Wow, I haven’t heard about mixing two together, but it might be interesting 🙂👍🌷. Like I said, I use one in one stage of my life 🙂, but I do like switching it from time to time depends where I’m going 🙂🌸.

  13. You’re absolutely correct, in that aroma is wonderfully evocative. Even now, the right scent has the power to stir, vividly, memories hidden for years. Our sense of smell may not be great compared to what other creatures enjoy, but we have the power to weave magnificent stories with just a hint of fragrance.
