4 Home Improvements You Can Complete While Away On Vacation

Whether you’re jetting off to the Caribbean for a week or just taking a long weekend at the cabin, there are some home improvements you need to have done while you’re away that will save you time. So rather than coming home to a list of projects that need to be completed, take the time to find someone to complete them while you’re away! Here are four home improvements you can complete while away on vacation:

The Roof

One of the most important home improvements you can make is fixing your roof. If you have a leaky roof, it can cause serious damage to your home, costing you thousands of dollars in repairs. While trying to fix the problem yourself may be tempting, it’s best to leave this one to the professionals. A good roofing contractor can fix the problem quickly and efficiently without causing further damage to your home. This is a job you should have completed while you’re on vacation because it will take some time, and you don’t want to be dealing with the noise while trying to relax.

The Floors

You can get new carpets or vintage hardwood floors installed while you’re gone. This big project will likely take several days, so it’s best to be out of the house while this work is being done. You’ll come home to shiny new floors that will instantly give your home a fresh look and feel. If you have hardwood floors that are starting to show their age, now is a great time to get them refinished. You can choose to have them stained in a new colour or simply have them stripped and refinished with a clear coat. Again, this project will take several days, so it’s best to be out of the house while the work is being done.

The Bathrooms

You know those little things that have been bugging you every time you use the bathroom? The wonky towel rack, the peeling caulk in the shower, the tiny crack in the sink? Now is your chance to fix all of those things without having to work around someone else’s schedule. You can also take this opportunity to update your bathroom with new fixtures or a fresh coat of paint. While you’re at it, why not install a water-saving shower head or low-flow toilet? These updates will not only be appreciated by your future self but also lower your water bill. And if you’re planning on selling your home in the future, these updates can be a selling point.

The Kitchen

Like the bathroom, the kitchen is another room in your house where you can make some small but impactful changes. You can install new cabinet hardware or even change out the fronts of your cabinets for a whole new look. If you have a tile backsplash, you can replace it with something new or simply grout over it for a clean look. New appliances can also make your kitchen feel brand new.

While on vacation, take advantage of the time away to do some of the things you can’t do when you’re home. Use these tips to make significant changes to your home that will make it feel new again. You’ll be so glad you did when you come home to a house that looks and feels refreshed.
