At the moment, so many of us are working from home. If this is brand new to you, you may find that it feels a little strange. And it’s going to. Because your home doesn’t have that same professional, motivating feeling that your office does. And it’s not supposed to. However, it is nice to be able to have a home office to work from at times like this. This can especially be the case when you do have to work from home on the odd occasion – because there is a space ready and waiting for you. And, if you’re someone that has worked from home for a while, but you haven’t got a home office yet, now is the perfect time. Let’s take a look at how you can pull one together.

1. Choose A Space
To start with, you’re going to want to make sure that you know where you’re going to set the office up. Will you make a space out in the garden or do you have a spare room? Maybe you want to make more use of the empty basement? Here, it doesn’t matter where it goes, but you’ll want to decide on the most suitable space for your needs and what seems like the more sensible location.
2. Get It Ready
Next up, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re getting the space ready. Most of the time, it’s not going to be free – so that means that you need to clear it out. If you need to prepare the space for the office to go, then also think about doing this now.

3. Choose Your Design
From here, you’re then going to want to think about the décor. Do you know what sort of style you’d like? Do you know what kind of look you should create? Make sure that you pick out the best colors, find the best zebra blinds manufacturers, and source the most suitable flooring choices. When you get them to all fit with the design ideas you have in mind, you can then bring the space together with furniture and accessories.
4. Accessorize The Space
Then comes the fun. Because now you get to dress the space up. Get the right furniture that you need to work from, sure – but also let yourself enjoy the process and decorate the space to make it light and bright and fun and inspiring.
5. Get Organized
Finally, when the space is ready, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re ready to work in it. And that means that you’re going to need to get organized. Because that’s the key. If you want a home office to help you feel the part, it’s only going to work so far. You’re then going to need to put the work in. So make sure that you have a system for how you get your work done, and that you set up the room ready for you to work from.

Thanks Ula for the suggestions. It took me awhile to locate a spot that I could consider productive and away from commotion. I did though. It turns out to be one of my little happy places. I can be so productive and get lost in inspiration while there too. Thanks again and stay safe.
My pleasure and you too!
Love this! I’m currently trying to find my perfect home office space, and it may just be the kitchen. I have a book that could work, and I would be surrounded by what inspires me! Thanks for the push and motivation 👌
My pleasure! All the best! 🙂🌷

Good blog. Also, dress up suitably to get the feeling of doing office work. 😊
Yes, that’s so important for me! 🙂👍🌻
What you touch on in this post is super important indeed Ula. I’m in the process of customizing my home office too and I recently moved it to a different location and just this….has been making me feel way happier. Before, I wasn’t even aware I wasn’t happy where the desk was. So, I totally relate with one of your commenters who talk of their “happy places”. When we’re happy, we do our best work 🙂
Indeed and thank you so much!
Thanks for the post Ula!
Personally I think that having multiple plants (real ones!) in your home office makes a noticeable difference. In my living area we have six – one large one and a few medium size.
Also good brightness, especially natural light is a nice morale boost if WFH. High wattage bulbs is the next best thing for home offices that don’t have natural sunlight.
Just some thoughts 🙂
Yes, natural sunlight makes a huge difference 🙂👍🌸
