Your bedroom is the place where you retreat to when you want to rest, relax and replenish, often after a tough day. So, it stands to reason that you would want to make your bedroom as relaxing as possible so you can actually switch your brain off, get a break and hopefully get a refreshing night’s sleep too.
Something that will really help you achieve that is to make your bedroom as relaxing as possible. Now you might already have the world’s most relaxing sleep space, but if you don’t, here are a few things that can help you make your bedroom more relaxing right now:
Clear Out The Clutter
When your space is cluttered, so is your mind, which is why you will find it harder to switch off if you’re sleeping in a messy space. It’s also why the most important thing you can do right now to make your bedroom more relaxing is to get rid of your clutter. Whether you donate it or give it away or invest in more chest of drawers or ottomans to store it away, anything you can do to keep your clutter out of sight, and therefore out of mind, in the bedroom will make a huge difference.
Go Neutral
Even if you’re the biggest lover of color, it’s probably a good idea to go a little bit more neutral in the bedroom because neutral colors and shades you would typically find in nature such as sky blue or sandy beige are more soothing to the body and mind. Keep the color to the rest of the house, or if you must have it in the bedroom, use it as an accent color with your accessories instead of having it be a main feature on the walls.
Invest In Better Bed Linen
If your bed linen doesn’t feel like silk against your skin, then you are going to want to upgrade it to something softer and more comfortable – Egyptian cotton is google After all, you spend most of your time in the bedroom actually in bed, so if it isn’t comfy, you won’t be able to relax effectively either. You sh9ould probably invest in some plumper pillows for this reason too.
Use The Power Of Plants
Various studies have shown that plants are good for us. They not only purify the air around us, but they also have a naturally calming effect on humans. So, have one on your nightstand and you will probably find it much easier to relax and drift off to sleep each night. They will add a bit of color and style to the place too, of course.
Install A Blackout Blind
It can be hard to relax and get to sleep if the light of the sun or moon is shining directly on to you, so make sure you have a good blackout blind to help you achieve total darkness when you need to and free scented candles around for when soft lighting is a must – might as well have a beautiful aroma enveloping you at the same time, right?
Now all that remains is to lie yourself down with a good book and relax!
