Before You Buy Your Next Winter Boots

Weather we like it or not, winter is coming.

Last year, I purchased new winter boots. Very nice ones, waterproof and fashionable. I thought that I made a great choice. I couldn’t be more wrong. They were very narrow and actually not completely waterproof. I even have to use my bunion corrector now, because of wearing those shoes. I told myself that I won’t make the same mistake this year.

I chose Bogs Footwear company and even though I wore my new shoes only a couple of times, I’m already a very “happy camper” :).

My experience brought me here to help you avoid mistakes I made in the past.

Here are my three top tips you need to consider before buying your new pair of winter boots:

1. You Want To Feel Comfortable

As I’ve mentioned above, one of the reasons I’ve hurt my feet was that my shoes were too narrow. That’s why I highly recommend something that is wide enough to even put a thicker sock inside. Unless you buy a pair that is good for temperatures like -40 Celsius degrees. Mine actually are, because B Puffy Mid boots are perfect for such high temperatures. They are also wider than most of the winter boots out there.

Do make sure that your new shoes will be lightweight, because if they’re heavy, they are likely to feel heavy on your feet. Also, flexible sole is a huge plus, it is much more comfortable in the long run, especially if you do a lot of walking.

2. Make Sure They Are Waterproof

No matter which material you go for: leather, suede or a man-made material, ensure the upper part of the boot is waterproof. You need to carefully look for a mention on the label. Don’t forget about it.

3. Get Ready For Everything

Winter sometimes can really surprise us with its harshness. You need to be prepared for the worst and I really like that Bogs offers winter boots with subzero insulation. It’s nothing better than warm feet since feet control your body temperature.

Since I was a little girl, my parents were saying that a good pair of shoes is very important. It doesn’t matter how they look. Of course, I was always way more interested in a look than being comfortable. The day has come that I actually have a very comfortable and warm boots, which are nice and simple enough to go with anything I’m going to wear this winter.

I hope you’ll find your great pair of winter boots, as well! 🙂

  1. Ooo these look squishy and comfy! I hope they help with your bunion protector, my mum struggles with those herself. I think waterproof is a great idea for outdoor wear when the weather isn’t too pleasant, and you really can’t underestimate comfort and a good fit because of the problems poor footwear can cause. xx

  2. I wear a pair of black leather 5.11 ATAC Storms pretty much all year. Unless I’m wearing shorts, then I’ll wear other shoes. But I always wear boots with jeans. Unless I’m just going barefoot, of course. I have 2 pairs of the same boots; my scuffed-up everyday pair, and the clean shiny pair I only wear for fancy occasions. Them boots been goin’ strong for over 5 years now. They’re a bit heavy, but I’m used to it.

  3. I purchased some winter boots in what was meant to be the end of summer – but it’s England so seasons are frankly irrelevant! Very good post – I enjoyed reading it. Shoes never really agree with me XD

    1. Thank you, it’s Calvin Klein (I bought the whole set with scarf and gloves- it’s available in their online store) 🙂💕🌷
