Relying A Little Less On Chemical Cleaners In Your Home

Modern cleaning products have undeniably made it a lot easier to keep our homes shiny, healthy, and hygienic. However, those cleaning products can also come with some health risks of their own. Here, I’m going to take a closer look at why a lot of moms are being a lot more skeptical of which products they put in their cleaning arsenal, as well as some of the fantastic alternatives you can use in everyday life.

What’s All The Fuss About?

Before you start tossing out all of the cleaning goods in your cupboards, you probably want a good reason to do that in the first place. This isn’t a recommendation that you stop cleaning the house, of course. Good hygiene is crucial for our family’s well-being, now more than ever. However, that doesn’t mean that the techniques we’re currently using to clean our homes are good for us, either.

In fact, there are plenty of risks related to many of the household chemicals we commonly use, particularly for cleaning. From aerosols to air fresheners, detergents to floor polish, oven cleaners, bleach, and more. Each of these can contain chemicals such as ammonia which can cause or exacerbate respiratory problems. They have been found to have a real causal relationship with symptoms of asthma. What’s more, if we tend to rely on them more often than we should, we can end up mixing chemicals in the air to create known human carcinogens. Having these chemicals floating around in the home reduces the air quality, poses a risk to our respiratory health, can cause irritation of the skin and eyes, and may even increase our risk of cancer.

Bring Some Zest Into The Home

So, what can we do to replace the chemicals that might be doing us so much harm in our own homes? Thankfully, there are plenty of natural alternatives that have none of the chemicals that you would associate with these household products, such as using washing soda, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda. Perhaps one of the most versatile options of all is Natura SolutionsAll-In-One Cleaner, Disinfectant & Deodorizer Spray. It  combines the natural deep cleaning power of plant-based enzymes with the powerful disinfecting action of hydrogen peroxide. It also has a low residue, is compatible with common surfaces and is naturally fragranced with eucalyptus essential oil.

You can find Natura Solutions’ products at Goodness Me Natural Food Market, Healthy Planet, Nature’s Emporium, The Big Carrot, S & H Health Foods and Vita Health (Manitoba). Also, you can shop on Amazon or simply check Natura’s Where to Buy Map. If you can’t find Natura products at your favorite local grocery store or health food store you can make a request to the store manager, who can easily order them through Purity Life Distribution.

Start Using Disinfecting Wipes

Many of the chemicals that we should be trying to cut down on are commonly found in surface cleaning wipes, as well. Some of them, such as those that are proven safe to babies (and are usually marketed as baby wipes) might be just fine. However, others tend to have plenty of those chemicals we should be a little warier of. The solution to this is, as the heading suggests, to use things like Biodegradable Disinfecting Wipes more often. Natura Solutions offers them in three sizes: 25, 40 and 160. They are made with 100% natural bamboo fibre and contain plant-based enzymes and natural surfactants, so you can quickly clean up household spills in a safe, environmentally friendly manner.

The health concerns revolving around cleaning chemicals in the home are not a fabrication. There are plenty of real reasons to reconsider how you’re cleaning the home and Natura Solutions make it a little easier to find alternatives if you’re looking to make the switch, too. Some of their other products are: Antiseptic Hand Cleanser, Stain Remover, Odor Eliminator and more. All of them are biodegradable, PH-neutral, and are a safer choice for our loved ones, our pets, and the environment.

  1. I like a clean house and friendly cleaners. Mostly they’re effective but I struggled to find a way to clean the stove so it was streak-free (black stoves are the worst). It turns out that my sprayer of equal parts vinegar and water is what did the job 😃

  2. Cleaners such as these are always safer to use and do just as good a job. My wife uses Young Living brand cleaners around our house and they are just as effective. Thank you for posting this!!! Always informative!!!
