Road trips are something that I like the most and luckily, V likes them too! As you all know we went to Washington D.C. to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. We went there by car and it took us about 12 hours drive one way. It was the longest road trip and the best one! You can imagine that we were very well prepared.
Here are my 5 tips to make road trips more fun:

1. Make A Playlist
Of course, the ultimate tip is to travel with someone whose company you enjoy. Even better if he or she is a great singing partner.
I always prepare playlists with songs that V and I love listening to and singing along. It’s so much fun when a good song comes on and we both sing it out loud :).
2. Having Snacks
Going for a 12 hour road trip, we packed lots of snacks. Lots of fruits, crackers, cookies and licorice. It’s just way more fun having something to bite on and enjoy the picturesque views around you.
3. Make A Stop Somewhere Interesting
What I like most about road trips is that it is up to you when and where you stop. If on the way you see something interesting, it’s always a good idea to stop and discover it. An unexpected stop makes road trips even more interesting.
It is also good to know what’s around you, because you might be passing something worth going off road.

4. Share Stories
I always feel a little nostalgic on the road trips and like sharing some stories with V which happened years ago. I love listening to V’s stories when he was a little boy a lot!
There is always something new to learn about each other.
5. Play Games
When I was a little girl, I used to play with my siblings the game where you need to say the word that starts with the last letter of the previous word. Does it make sense? ๐ Of course, I play it now with V whenever we are in the car for a long time.
On our way to Washington we also played the game “who can spot the most Canadian plates in the USA” :). I’m not sure who won this one…

Awesome! ๐๐น
12 hours? Wow? Did you do some of the driving, or did V handle it all? Vital to have a well-prepared co-pilot, and from the sound of things, you took great care to make it a pleasant trip.
Itโs been many years since I was in car for that long. The year my grandparents retired to Florida, we drove to see them. 21 hours, though my parents took turns driving (I was but a child then). Needles to say, every year after that, we flew.
Unfortunately, V had to drive all the way there, but he did a great job! ๐
Yes to these tips!!! Love a good road trip!! A good companion, great snacks, and a helluva track list are essential!
